GL EXAMINATION PAPERS
Students will sit two papers each an hour long. The first paper will be on verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning; the second will be on English comprehension and mathematics. There is no creative writing component. The following schools sit the GL exam for entry at 11 plus:

* King Edward Vi Camp Hill for Girl uses the following examinations: two English papers: designed to test reading and writing. In the past poems pictures and prose; one Maths paper with arithmetic focus – no algebra or geometry. Exam takes place online in IT suite writing component. VERBAL REASONING
Tests logic, spatial reasoning and intelligence.

NON-VERBAL REASONING
Tests logic, spatial reasoning and intelligence.

MATHEMATICS
Tests problem-solving and arithmetic. Possible questions on numbers, algebra, statistics, measurement, and geometry.
ENGLISH
Comprehension paper in multiple-choice format with no written component. Tests compression skills in analysing structure, writer’s craft, and inference.
INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS
Independent schools use the school report, the interview, and an entrance examination in 11+ format.

1-hour long comprehension paper with an open-ended question and a creative writing component. Testing understanding of writer’s craft, use of structure, inference, and terminology.

1-hour long Mathematics Paper. Tests problem solving and arithmetic. Possible questions on statistics, measurement, algebra, and geometry.
