SUTTON COLDFIELD GRAMMAR SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
Founded in 1929, Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls has established a reputation for providing an exemplary education. Given an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted, recognised as a Beacon school, and awarded special science status in 2004 the quality of teaching and care is widely acknowledged.

Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls offers varied and diverse extra-curricular opportunities for students including sports competitions, STEM experiences, and theatre as well as many more so every student can add an extra string to their bow in a supportive environment. The school is partnered with Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School and comes together for music and drama productions.
The school fosters team building, self-esteem, and camaraderie in its house system. Pupils are allocated to 1 of 6 houses named after star constellations: Aquila, Cygnus, Delphinus, Pegasus, Phoenix, and Ursa. Multiple house activities and inter-house competitions are held throughout the year for students to earn points and hopefully win the House Cup at the end of the year.
Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls have 180 Year 7 places that are assigned based on examination scores. The application process is highly competitive due to its location and scarcity of places compared to applicants. Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls has no catchment area.

The school has a GL entrance exam. This format can be new and intimidating for prospective students as it is not covered in standard primary education. It is vital that students familiarise themselves with the test format through practice to enable them to demonstrate their academic potential on exam day
THE EXAM
The exam takes place on the same day as the exam for the King Edward VI Foundation Schools in September 2024. It consists of two 60-minute GL papers dived into 4 sections:
